Analysis assumptions

Data selection
- The analysis calculates market shares for Micron and Samsung based on sales volumes aggregated at the annual level (summing across all quarters within each year).
- Market share calculations include only two specific node ranges: 16-28nm and 45-65nm. Other node ranges (e.g., 7-14nm, 90nm+, Sub-5nm) are excluded from this analysis.
- Sales volumes are measured in millions of 8-inch equivalent wafers. The analysis assumes the wafer_equivalent_inch conversions in the cleaned data are correct.
Transformation
- Total market sales for each node range include all companies in the dataset, not just Micron and Samsung. The total market is calculated first, then filtered to show only Micron and Samsung shares.
Modeling choice
- The analysis uses volume-based market shares rather than revenue-based shares.
